Hello,
As a dedicated puzzler who has made many large puzzles but decided not to try "Life" mainly because I didn't care for the image (I prefer classic artwork to computer generated images), I wanted to alert you all that Ravensburger is about to release a 32,000 piece puzzle in September.
If you visit rue-des-puzzles.com, they have information about it. To be honest, I care even less for the Ravensburger image – it's a series of panels with simplistic cartoonish graphics. To be honest, I thought the image they had posted was just a temporary clip-art image before the "real" one was revealed. I don't know why they wouldn't have chosen a more varied image (think of all the wonderfully detailed Renaissance paintings, etc.). Clearly it's a puzzle made for sorters, and those who build puzzles one section over the other, going more by shape than subtleties in color, which just isn't my approach when puzzling.
So the world record is in jeopardy. Perhaps the masterminds at Educa are already planning a 48,000-piece reply.
Here's a link with images of some of the puzzles I've done over the years:

I've enjoyed reading on this site about all those who have completed "Life." It's quite an interesting documentation of how puzzling can be enjoyed across boundaries of place, language, and age.
